Disneyland first opened in July 1955 and has since brought magic into the lives of every visitor who has passed through their gates. Since it opened over 50 years ago, Disneyland has seen over 515 million guests enjoy the atmosphere that so many of us love and visit so often. After a visit to the magical kingdom, you will counting the days until you and your family can return and experience it again.

The Disneyland Resort is located in Anaheim, California, with easy access from Interstate 5. The Disneyland Resort is home to two theme parks, three 5-star hotels, and Downtown Disney. Each theme park features rides, themed areas and attractions that provide a magical experience for your entire family.

Disneyland, the original park consists of six different areas, or lands as they are called. Upon entering Disneyland you will find yourself on Main Street, U.S.A. Immediately, you will be emerged in 20th century America. You will see double deck buses driving around the area, arcades, and the building even look old school. It is definitely a site to see.

Immediately following Main Street, if you take a left, you will find yourself in Adventureland. This is an area which is all about the tropical theme. In this land you will find the Tiki Room, Indiana Jones Adventure, Tarzan Tree House, and the Jungle Cruise. You will literally be taken from real life and feel as though you are in a jungle.

If you happen to take a right off main street, you will find yourself stepping away from today and entering the future in Tomorrowland. Tomorrowland is home to one of the most loves rides, Space Mountain. You will also find Star Tours and Buzz Lightyear Astroblasters to be very fun and entertaining for the whole family.

Frontierland is one of my favorite since it is home to the Thunder Mountain Railroad. This ride is definitely one that shouldn’t be missed by anyone. The whole land feels as though you just left the present and enter the Wild, Wild, West. Filled with saloons and places to practice your target shooting, you will feel as though you should be in tight pants, a flannel shirt, and chaps.

Fantasyland is one that will be loved by most little children. Fantasyland’s main entrance is through Sleeping Beauty’s Castle. Immediately you are taken away from real life and into a fantasy. You will find all of the little rides for the children like Peter Pan’s Flight, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, and Dumbo the Flying Elephant. It is also home to the Matterhorn Bobsleds and the brand new Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage.

The last major area of Disneyland is ToonTown. If your children love Mickey Mouse and his gang, they will love to see where they live. ToonTown is a bust for adults, but nothing brings me more happiness than to see little children jump for joy and excitement when they get all the way through Mickey’s house and see him and the end.

Disneyland is truly a magical place and one that can be enjoyed by all. I try to visit the resort with my family once a year. You should really consider it for your next vacation. Your family will thank you forever!

Whenever I think of a trip to New York City whether for a vacation or just a short one or two-day visit I can’t help but think of Broadway and the delightful shows that await in these hallowed halls of entertainment delight. Broadway is the essence of New York to me. It can in turns be bawdy, brawling, loud, rowdy, soft, romantic, comedic, and rip-roaringly hilarious. Broadway has it all for those who are willing to look for their perfect fit.

The problem with Broadway is that there are so many wonderful shows to see and such limited time (for most of us) in which to see them. I don’t even believe those who live in New York City have enough time in which to appreciate the artistic treasure trove that is represented within this wonderful city that never sleeps. The truth of the matter is that in order to properly enjoy all the theatrical offerings available to you, you’d almost have to never sleep yourself.

Musicals

It is important to remember that all shows are not available at all times. Check to see if the show you wish to see will be playing during your visit before getting your hopes up. On to the musicals, which are, by the way, my favorite types of Broadway entertainment. Chicago the Musical, Forbidden Broadway (this one offers an hilarious ’spoof’ of Broadway), Jersey Boys, Naked Boys Singing (yes, they are!), Phantom of the Opera, Rent, Wicked, and Mama Mia!

Comedies

Broadway is well known for thumbing its nose at convention as well as for letting it’s hair down and having a good ole time. The same holds true for the Broadway theatre of today. Comedies and musicals on Broadway are not mutually exclusive so some of the hilarity mentioned below will have some degree of song and dance (well most likely quite a bit of both but you will definitely laugh). Let the comedies begin! I Love You, Your Perfect, Now Change (seriously, that’s the name we’re already off to a great start on the road to laughter). Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead (I think someone’s been peeking in my kids windows at night-this one is actually off Broadway but I thought it bore mentioning with such a catchy title and all). Spamalot. This one is rising star with rave reviews by critics and a fairly good attendance rate so buy your tickets early! The Producers, which was recently made as a motion picture and The Little Dog Laughed round up my list of comedies. I hope you’ve seen something here that looks like a good laugh; I know I’ve seen a few!

Drama

While many people think of the happy go lucky song and dance that is often associated with Broadway there is a deep dramatic flare to the offerings as well. Particularly some of the musicals that carry with them profound messages about music, life and love-among these wonderful icons of Broadway are the following: Rent- a very La Boheme meets modern life musical that is probably one of the best Broadway musicals I’ve ever seen and I’m a huge fan of Phantom. Les Miserables is another Broadway drama that really needs no introduction, Grey Gardens is perfect for anyone who fears becoming a cat lady or spinster, A Chorus Line, Chicago, The Color Purple, Phantom of the Opera (my personal favorite), and The Vertical Hour (this is a new one let’s hope it lasts).

There are a few family friendly musicals and plays that bear mentioning among them are the following: Wicked, The Phantom of the Opera (may be a little frightening for younger children during certain scenes), Tarzan, The Lion King, Mary Poppins, Momma Mia!, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and Beauty and the Beast. You know your child best and what will or will not be frightening for them or possibly lead to uncomfortable questions for you, view most Broadway plays with that in mind.

Broadway is a great way to really enjoy what New York has to offer its visitors for entertainment. While it would hardly be possible to see each and every show that might attract your attention it is quite possible to make the time to view the one that is most appealing to you and it will be quite an experience for the entire family.

California is a grand state in more ways than one. Not only is it one of the largest states but it also has more tourist attractions and tourist destinations than any other single state in the Union. For some people, the only problem with vacationing in the Golden State is that they wish they had more time to take in all the sights. Entrance on Spui is carved on a sign, and entry is free. A vaulted passageway will lead you to Begijnhof. Old ladies now take the place of the devout celibate Bguine nuns that used to be in charge.

The classical Koninklijk Paleis building was built as the town hall. Its fine structure and sculptures were meant to glorify Amsterdam the city and its government.

The Red Light District of Amsterdam is a major tourist attraction. It is also known as Walletjes, and is the best-known red-light district in the city. It consists of an alley network containing a great number of small rooms rented by mostly females who offer their special services from behind a glass window or door, which is usually decorated with red lights. The area has an overall adult entertainment feel with peep shows, sex shops, sex theatres, a sex museum as well as a cannabis museum, and many coffee shops offering various smoking products.

The Rijksmuseum is the biggest museum in the country, and more than a 1 000 000 people visit it each year. The museum is a famous Amsterdam landmark and contains an unequalled collection of Dutch art. Another art museum not to be missed is the Stedelijk Museum, which houses the civic collection of modern art. Expect to see great works by masters such as Monet, Picasso, Matisse, and Cezane.

Spain is well known for its many tasty contributions to the global cookbook. Among the traditional epicurean delights available to those enjoying luxury holidays in Spain are paella, chorizo, Manchego cheese, olives, empanadas, turron, paprika, patatas bravas, rioja wine and of course lots of seafood.

Those who have been on family holidays to Murcia will already be aware that the cuisine in this region of Spain is second to none – however, they may not be aware that much of what they have eaten in Murcia has strong associations with the south-eastern region of Spain.

Paprika, capers, cheese, rice and apricots all have a distinct link with Murcia – Market Uno notes that capers have been a crucial part of Murcian cooking since the 16th century. Those who wish to try out the tantalising flavours of Murcian fare while they are on a villa holiday in Spain may wish to visit some of the following Murcia eateries.

A great thing about eating in Murcia is that much of the food is grown locally, so you can look forward to fat juicy red tomatoes in your salad. If you want to eat in typical Spanish style then make a night of your evening meal and hop from bar to bar trying a different plate of tapas at each one.

Recommended bars in Murcia include Plaza de las Flores, El Bolito, La Tapa, Las Viandas, Las Mulas, Pepico del Tio Gines and Casa Perela – which serves wild mushrooms sauteed in olive oil and garlic shoots, suckling pig and of course paella. However, if moving around between courses is not your style and you wish to eat at one restaurant, then Murcia has many beautiful bistros to choose from.

For quick service, the Spanish Airport Guide recommends Rincon de Pepe, famous for its Paparajotes dessert – made with the leaves of lemon trees. If you are enjoying a luxury holiday in Spain then the guide suggests a trip to the 17th century wine bodega turned restaurant Palacete Rural La Seda for a modern meal made with local ingredients.

Finally, Murcia is famous for its regional wine and so do make sure to try some during your Spanish holiday. The Airport Guide notes that Restaurante El Sordo in the Murcian valley of Ricote offers traditional and creative cuisine served in “very generous” portions, which can be washed down with locally made house wine.
